Wonderful World of Perfumes

Years ago I got a miniature bottle of Eau de Cologne from my friend who visited this small fragrance museum. It reminds me of checking the museum online for a new post.
Although they don’t have much explanation on the website, we can imagine how fascinating place it is by the interview of The Buzz with the museum historian Johann Farina (who is a descendant of Farina with the sense of perfect smell in 18th century). I quoted only the introduction and recommend you to read the whole article. You know fragrance is kind of psychological!

The way perfumes are concocted is a piece of knowledge that people don’t tend to think about too much. They just smell and do not know what they are taking in. The Buzz traveled to Cologne, Germany to visit the intriguing Farina Fragrance Museum that allows yourself to be swept away into the wonderful world of perfumes. A tour through our Fragrance Museum lets you discover three centuries of fragrance and cultural history, starting with the Rococo era, the time of the perfumer Johann Maria Farina.

Fragrance museum for perfume world

I love the virtual tour they provide on the website though it’s a bit too short. You can start from watching outside through the museum window and go upstairs for perfume experience while taking a look at the beautiful gift shop downstairs.
If you are one of the lucky people who are supposed to visit Cologne in the near future, you must book 45-minutes guided tour which is the only way to visit. I think it’s pretty famous among museum travel fans so you’d better book in advance for your time preference.
