Toy museum sounds nice to grown-ups as well as children, doesn’t it? This small museum would give you memorable experience in Singapore with special programs (such as Early years of toys, Superhero adventures, Science in toys, etc.).
Mint Museum of Toys
Enjoy Vintage Toys in Asian City
I think they have very nice name for this unique museum. Mint stands for “moment of imagination and nostalgia in toys” and it’s the world’s first purpose-built museum only for toys. I’ll save Mint on my wish list with Musical Box Museum, maybe for my first trip to Singapore in a year.
The collection is made up of various key collections, including Batman, Dan Dare, Japanese character and space-related toys, and collectables. In addition to toys, the museum houses a collection of confectionary vintage tin boxes, large-item displays, such as Mobo horses and pedal cars, as well as original enamel advertising signs. Over the years, these have been incorporated into various exhibitions and programmes run by the museum, serving as windows into the past as well as inspirations for the present.
Toy museum for memorable experience
There’re no photos of the museum “place” on the website so I show you the images of program banners including their collections. For the atmosphere you can check Instagram, to see the people enjoy their time at Mint.
They say the toys were collected from more than 40 countries and their range in date is from 1840s to 1970s. So we can call this museum “a palace of vintage collectible toys”. It must be very rare chance to take a look at the toys even before 20th century!
Perhaps the only thing that makes me a bit hesitate to visit the museum could be “spending too much money for gifts”. I might buy nostalgic tin boxes as well as cute small toys. Anyway they would be good souvenirs from Singapore to give you back a child at heart.
