I love chocolate too much so this museum would be the sweetest place for me – and maybe for you. Museu de la Xocolata is a chocolate museum in Barcelona, Spain featuring artworks rendered in chocolate, plus workshops for kids and grown-ups.
Museu de la Xocolata
Artistic Chocolate Museum in Spain
Chocolate museum, already sounds fantastic. Although it’s not a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, this museum in real world has lots of things to satisfy chocolate lovers like you and me.
Let me quote their vision and mission first. You would agree chocolate is not only food but also a part of culture.
The mission of the Chocolate Museum is to provide the community with access to knowledge of the history of this product, so the memory and traditional values of Catalan confectionery can be recognised in it, through a policy of acquiring and hosting different material and publicising the heritage of the artistic tradition of working with chocolate.
The vision is to become a leading centre for researching, cataloguing and publicising the product and to become a leader in the preservation of the artistic side of the chocolate confectionery tradition.
Cultural museum with chocolate experience
Chocolate is many people’s favorite but it’s quite unusual to have a museum dedicated to chocolate. Since Barcelona has history with chocolate from 15th century, this museum exhibits elegant old tools for chocolate making and drinking. So it’s a cultural museum as well as sweet place.
I’m sorry there was no place like this around me when I was a kid but I still have a chance to visit there!
You can check their education services and activities on the museum website. Various chocolate experiences like chocolate sculpting must be great, even if you’re not a kid any more. But if you visit the museum for activity with your children, that would be the best way to enjoy this museum. Fortunately they’re running a museum shop for your children who want sweet gits.
Now they open Christmas activities so hurry up to book, if you have a plan to visit Barcelona in December.
